Warning! Super long journal for creative process. :s
I got third place in the AcryliContest for my dress. :3
Since it's over now, I'm going to talk about how I made it... Yeah, I'm bored.
First, I made up the plans for it. I drew out a few ideas, such as rollerblades with licorice laces, a sour belt skirt with scalloped edging, and strawberry pink and blue raspberry stockings. I even thought up some hairdos, such as a huge cotton candy pink updo inspired by classic French queens. I was going to draw it, but I figured I didn't have enough drawing skills for that.

Plus, I got the desire to make a doll dress.
After that, I just went out to buy some supplies. I got a Barbie doll and a lot of candy. I wanted to get different candies, but there wasn't much of a selection, so me and my brother just looked at the candy aisle and stood there, staring and thinking about what we could grab and what they could do. It took a lot of walking around the store and some ideas didn't come until we were almost to the cashier.
When I got home, I set to working on the design some more and I washed up the Barbie doll because she had all of this glittery crap on her, bleh.
Then I worked on making her dress. How to make the skirt part was probably my best idea because I looked for something similar to the shape I wanted and I saw a huge waterbottle and the top of it looked good, so I cut off the mouthpart and the dome part off the bottle and stuck it onto the doll. I think it was a good idea..!
Well, things never go the way they should (>/), so there were plenty of changes to the design as I was making it. I planned on using only melted jolly ranchers and gummy bears as glue, but it kept cooling off before I could put it on and it's tough to make it do what you want. It probably would've been better to use a boiling pot of sugar. >

I also planned for my brother to help me, but he dashed out on me. Then I thought I had a doll stand, but nope, so I had to tie the doll by her pigtails with yarn and hang her off of two cupboard handles. Booo...
The things that did work were the stockings and the skirt. What I did was cut strips of red and blue airheads and placed them in an alternating pattern and I couldn't find a rolling pin, so I had to use a huge hotsauce glass bottle without it's label on it (Oi, so ghetto). Then! To even get it onto the legs of the doll, I had to microwave it for a few seconds and put it onto her legs while it was still piping hot(!!!)! But they ended up looking pretty good, anyways. Then for the skirt, I had to microwave some more red airheads and smooth it out over the form while it was still hot(!!!!). I had to do this several times and by the time it was done, I was so happy, I cried like a baby over my burnt fingertips. Booo.. Then I just laid sourbelts where I wanted them and cut them. For her top, I microwaved some blue airheads and molded it around her torso, but there wasn't enough to cover her chest, so I put some red jolly rancher glue and then ripped up some leftover sourbelts for her top and the strap around her neck. It definitely wasn't part of the original design. :s Originally, I also wanted a sourbelt to go around the waist, but I only had one variety, so I picked up some twizzlers and started peeling away. My hands were shaking though, so it kept getting ripped and I went through a bunch of them before I got strands that worked. Then I just gathered them loosely and placed them around her waist. And then I made a bow out of some more sourbelts and put it on the back. I thought that would stay together, but nope, it kept falling apart over and over... But I liked the ends of the "ribbon" because I hole punched them some hearts. Woo. After all of this, I picked up some super hot jolly rancher goop (OH GOD!) and screamed, but I'm stubborn, so I pulled to stretch it out and over the dress in several rows. Then I glue some dots candies on it, but they kept falling, so I god SUPER fed up and hot glued them. Dots don't received candy glue very well. And they suck as glue, too. The shoes sucked. I wish I did something different. I just covered them with cherry jolly rancher.. :Sigh: They were originally big like ankle platform boots, but they kept sliding off...
When I was finished, I couldn't take a picture because it was late at night.. :/ And then I had to keep putting it off because my family is just a bunch of.. coconuts. So a few days came and went and I was reduced to begging for help.. Oi.... The dress was in bad shape, so what could I do!
I was just glad I could make a doll dress out of candy. I wanted the dress to stay possible, but maybe I should've been more imaginative.

But at least it got finished and submitted and won third place.
Yay for stickers and magnets.

And long journals.
